Review of Wishbones

“I consider myself fortunate to have been given the opportunity to read the manuscript of WISHBONES before publication. I hope to write this review in an interesting manner without giving away any secrets that you will find during your reading of WISHBONES. Taking notes occasionally will be invaluable to the reader, as it was to me.

As a retired college professor and administrator, I read the manuscript as if I were reading and grading an assignment written by one of my students. Thus, I tried to keep in mind how well the document is written relative to grammar and the telling of an exciting and emotional story.

As I read the manuscript, I took notes relative to characters and their relationships; grammar; and what emotional effects the story had on me. The introductions, descriptions, and relationships of the characters are represented in a simple yet interesting manner; many characters are active in many environments throughout the manuscript.

Since I was born, educated, and lived and worked all but two years of my life near the region of the story, I feel qualified to say that the manuscript was well written with dialect and descriptions appropriate for the story. My background, with many leadership roles in the church; a basketball player, coach, and referee; and a licensed building contractor, allowed me to relate to various characters and situations throughout the novel.

The characterizations throughout the novel were such that I was thinking ahead trying to figure out the ending. I was successful and unsuccessful at various times. Although I am not an emotional person, I teared up and had to pause my reading throughout the manuscript, at least 10 times, because of the realistic telling of the stories. I feel that the author accomplished his mission of writing an excellent story because it raised my level of anticipation as I continued reading the manuscript. I recommend that readers have tissues available throughout the reading of WISHBONES.

This manuscript was a more interesting read than any book I studied during my over 55 years in college, as a student and professor. It was the best non-Biblical story I ever read.”
